Our latest Kauai project featured in HGTV Magazine

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: our East Side project is featured in the March 2026 issue of HGTV Magazine!

This project was particularly meaningful because it challenged many of the expectations people have about “island style.” When people think of Hawaiian interiors, they often imagine breezy neutrals, rattan textures, and subdued palettes pulled from sand and sea. While we love that look, our clients Sean and Xochitl wanted something different—something brighter, bolder, and much more reflective of their family’s vibrant personality.

From the very beginning, the goal was to transform the house into a true reflection of the people who live there. The homeowners are a lively family with boys, and their home is a constant hub for friends, relatives, and neighbors. They didn’t want a space that felt overly precious or quiet—they wanted energy, color, and rooms that invite people to gather.

Bold, saturated colors became the backbone of the design. Playful patterns, layered textiles, and statement pieces brought personality into every corner of the home. Rather than following the traditional island aesthetic, we created a palette that felt joyful and unexpected while still complementing Kauai’s incredible natural surroundings.

Entertaining was another key driver behind the design. We opened up gathering areas, created flexible seating zones, and focused on spaces that naturally pull people together—whether it’s a casual afternoon with the kids’ friends or a lively evening with extended family. The result is a home that feels welcoming, dynamic, and completely lived in.

What we love most about this project is how personal it is. It’s not about following a trend or recreating a typical “Hawaii look.” Instead, it’s about designing a home that truly represents the family who lives there—one that supports their lifestyle, celebrates their energy, and makes space for the people they love.

We worked with local Contractor Justin Terpening of Creative Woodworking to bring this vision to life. We are so grateful for his collaboration and attention to detail - he is truly a dream to work with!
