Valley House
Residential
Kaua’i, Hawai’i
What was once a humble garage is now one of the coolest spaces on the property. Valley House was a complete renovation and furnishing project that transformed an underutilized structure into a light-filled open-plan living, kitchen, and dining space designed for gathering, relaxing, and slowing down.
Our clients coined the design style themselves: Japandilum—a playful blend of Japanese and Scandinavian design principles infused with the laid-back, sun-soaked spirit of Tulum, Mexico. The result is a home that feels effortlessly calm, grounded, and rad all at once.
Custom white oak cabinetry anchors the kitchen, while limewashed walls bring warmth, texture, and an organic softness to every room. Thoughtfully designed custom furnishings, natural materials, and a restrained palette create a sense of ease, allowing the architecture and craftsmanship to take center stage.
The finished space feels both elevated and approachable—a modern retreat where clean lines meet tropical living, proving that even a former garage can become something truly special.
