kaua’i, hawai’i

Nestled beneath the historic monkeypod tree in Kōloa Town, Java Kai's newest café was envisioned as a natural extension of its surroundings. Designed in collaboration with Noho Workshop, the space embraces Kaua‘i's indoor-outdoor lifestyle through a thoughtful blend of natural materials, layered textures, and open, welcoming gathering areas.

Our role focused on creating an interior experience that felt warm, relaxed, and deeply connected to place while supporting the demands of a high-traffic commercial environment. Every detail was considered to balance beauty and function, resulting in a space that feels both elevated and effortlessly approachable.

The completed café reflects the spirit of the island and the community it serves—a destination designed for connection, conversation, and lingering a little long.
