The Mauna Kai project was a transformation that required equal parts strategic spatial planning and high-impact design. Originally a single, large condo, we completely renovated and split the property into two separate, fully functioning units to maximize rental income for the owners. Transitioning a space into a high-turnover vacation rental meant every design decision had to be incredibly intentional - balancing a beautiful, welcoming aesthetic with durability.
During our very first walkthrough, we stumbled upon paintings of fish left behind in the condo that instantly caught our eye. When we found out it was actually painted by the original owner, we fell in love with the story and the vibe, deciding right then to use it as the ultimate jumping-off point for the entire design. From there, we built out a palette that balances a luxurious island feel with "biggest bang for your buck" selections that delivered major style without inflating the budget. To ensure the spaces stand up to steady guest turnover, we packed the units with high-quality, durable furniture and high-performance, outdoor-safe fabrics. The result of this thoughtful curation is a pair of effortlessly cool, resilient escapes that guests absolutely love—consistently earning five-star reviews and keeping the property booked year-round.
