If you're anything like me, your body is sort of hating you right now for all of the sugar you've binged on for the past month (or two). Luckily, this recipe is an indulgence you can feel good about - the main ingredient, raw cacao powder, is one of the most nutrient dense foods available. Other powerhouses include Maca, which comes from a root known as "Peruvian Ginseng," provides high levels of iron, magnesium and B complex and helps balance hormones. Coconut oil will not only make this super creamy but has the added benefit of helping your body absorb all of the awesome nutrients.
- 1.5 C almond milk
- 2 T raw cacao powder (I like Bright Earth Foods available here)
- 1 T maca powder
- 1 t coconut oil
- Dash of cinnamon
- Dash of cayenne
- Pinch of Himalayan sea salt
- 1 t raw honey (I use Manuka for the anti-bacterial properties)
Heat almond milk in a saucepan until just simmering. Add ingredients and use a whisk to combine until frothy.
